WhatsApp, a messaging service owned by Meta, is developing a new feature that could let users record voice comments on their status updates.

This feature is still being worked on, so WABetaInfo states that beta testers cannot yet access it.
According to the source, WhatsApp “plans to improve the functionality of status updates by adding the option for voice notes.”

“Voice status” refers to a voice memo shared as a status update.

The voice message will be end-to-end encrypted, much like other photographs and videos uploaded to your status, and will only be shared with the persons you specify in your privacy settings for your status.

The platform recently revealed that it is introducing a new feature that will allow users to reply to messages with any emoji of their choice.

There are now only six emojis available on the app for users to utilise in their reactions.

A robot, french fries, surfing in the sea, and other emojis were referenced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

According to a recent rumour, WhatsApp is also probably developing a feature that would enable iOS users to keep their online status private.

The “Last Seen” information can now be displayed to contacts, some people, or no one at all. In a future update, WhatsApp will permit users to use a method akin to the online toggle.
